Which of them is the most successful at engaging fans and followers? Read the report and broaden your perspective on the social media landscape in the United Kingdom.

The report contains data for 11 different industries present on Facebook in the UK. These are: All UK Brands, Alcohol, Banks, IT/Electronics, Beverages, Beer, Politics, Retail, Cars, Sweets, and Telecommunication.

The best performing profiles

This September, Shell, boohoo.com, and Everton Football Club had the most engaging posts. Shell experienced a massive success by posting a video of a song. Of course, it wasn’t just any regular song. It featured 6 famous artists performing on the same song, accompanied by a video that demonstrated some unique ideas for creating energy. Since Shell is an oil and gas company, showing off their concern for energy saving boosts their brand image quite a bit.

It’s nigh impossible for smaller businesses to make such content for social media with a small budget. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do something on a smaller scale. Think of some creative ways to demonstrate your values to you fans, like Shell did. It can be a video, a photo, or just an example from the real world. Anything that helps your fans understand your brand better. Everton Football Club did something similar this month, sharing that they donated £200, 000 to helping Everton fan Bradley Lowery, a 5-year-old with neuroblastoma. And they had a huge amount of engagement. Doing some good in the world will always boost your social success.

Or you can do what boohoo.com does and post funny memes. If you’re brand doesn’t take itself too seriously, this is also a great way to get some engagement. It can be risky though, as internet humor is a fickle and ever-changing environment. Success not guaranteed!

The biggest and most engaging brands

The biggest brands changed a little this month, with three additions to the top ranking profiles. Chelsea Football Club (39m fans), Arsenal (30m fans), and Manchester City (18m fans) we’re added to the analysis and knocked some other brands down in the ranking. It’s no surprise though, as football clubs garner a huge amount of engagement not just on Facebook, but Twitter too. Adele and Coldplay still have the most fans on Facebook, respectively.

The most engaging brands this month were Ellie Goulding (913k fans engaged), Leicester City Football Club (572k fans), and Shell (398k fans).
